PSR is ongoing religious education for our teens who are not enrolled in a school with a daily, Catholic religion class. The goal of PSR is to help the parents continue to raise the child in our shared faith and plan for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
High school PSR is for freshmen and sophomores, including schools which are Catholic but are not under the direction of the Diocese of Baton Rouge.
At St. Aloysius we combine PSR with High School Youth Group on Sunday evenings. Youth group meetings, called "Life Nights," are hosted in the Parish Hall from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Teens enrolled in High School PSR are expected to attend twelve Life Nights each year and are responsible for arriving on time, signing themselves in, and staying until the end.
There are several great reasons why we combine PSR with youth group! We subscribe to Life Teen, a Catholic youth ministry organization which strictly follows the US Conference of Catholic Bishops' curriculum for high school teens. Life Teen seeks to engage teens by using icebreaker games, videos, small groups, presentations, skits, and other elements in their meeting plans.
Combining PSR with youth group allows all our teens to intermingle, make new friends, and gain a perspective outside their school's "bubble." It means that the PSR teens are engaged in a meeting which is more than classroom-style learning. It's ministry for a new generation of Catholics!
Parents seeking to enroll their teens in High School PSR should email the youth minister.
Junior High PSR utilizes Life Teen's EDGE program to connect our junior high teens with their Catholic heritage. Similar to Life Teen and high shool youth group, you can expect icebreaker games, videos, small groups, presentations, skits, and other elements in their meeting plans.
Junior High PSR is hosted on Sunday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30 pm in Gonzaga Hall. Please email the youth minister to enroll your teen.
We want our Junior High PSR teens to feel welcome at Junior High Youth Group too! Click here for the JHYG website.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is the last of the sacraments of initiation and gives young men and women the chance to personally appropriate the faith which their parents and godparents received for them at baptism. Confirmation at St. Aloysius is held annually in the fall, and eligible high school juniors and seniors are invited to participate. Click here to visit our Confirmation website!
