Youth MinistriesJunior High Youth Group

What is Junior High Youth Group?

Junior High Youth Group includes fun, Catholic activities for 7th and 8th-grade teens. We meet once a month and like to use in-house service projects, special events, and trips to give our junior high teens a fun and safe place to make new friends and feel a part of the larger parish.

How can we get involved?

Bring your teen to our next meeting!

Most events do not require a permission slip, and there is not a broad, beginning-of-year registration to join JHYG. All St. Aloysius parishioners in 7th and 8th grade, regardless of school, are automatically registered. And you're welcome to bring your friends!

Parents can help us by volunteering to help serve lunch at a meeting or bring sweets for desserts!

What kind of activities are planned?

We have a wide and varied calendar in order to appeal to every junior high teen in our parish. Some of our regular events include:

  • Kickoff event featuring water inflatables
  • Food Drive Scavenger Hunt in the Pollard and Woodchase neighborhoods benefitting the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank
  • Trip to see the New Orleans Pelicans play in Smoothie King Arena
  • Lock-in featuring inflatables, dodge ball tournament, cotton candy, BINGO, service project, trivia challenge, and dance party
  • Living Stations of the Cross featuring 7th and 8th-grade teens as actors, musicians, and readers
  • End of the year party featuring inflatables
  • Texas trip for graduated 8th graders focusing on the transition into high school and featuring a water park, adventure park, and amusement park.

Teen leadership:

Our Junior High Youth Group is lead by high school teens who serve on our Youth Leadership Team. These teen leaders are specially trained to plan and present events for our junior high teens and are particularly passionate about giving back to our youth group and parish.
