Youth MinistriesLearn about our summer trips and missions

The Grand Texas Trip:

Our trip is open to recently-graduated 8th graders from St. Aloysius parish. It's a four-day bus trip, and the 2019 dates are June 2 - 5. Space is limited; the first seventy-six teens to register are admitted.

This may be the best event we host - during the days we visit amusement parks and water parks, and in the evenings at our hotel we get together for evening devotionals, which include praise and worship music, testimonies, icebreaker games, prayer, and spiritual challenges.

We recruit nineteen Junior Chaperones from our high school youth group to serve as mentors to these newly-minted freshmen! The JCs plan evening devotionals, lead small groups, and generally work to help their freshmen acclimate to high school and a high school faith.

A link to the form can be found on the right of this page as well as on the "welcome" and "junior high youth group" tabs.

Greenwood mission:

In 2019 St. Aloysius will begin a new mission tradition in Greenwood, Mississippi. We will visit Greenwood for a week to host mini summer camps for disadvantaged teens and visit the elderly and homebound in the community. In the evening we will enjoy music, games, speakers, small groups, sacraments, prayer and plenty of fellowship.

The 2019 dates are July 6 - 12. This mission will count for 40 service hours.

Missionaries will be select from a pool of applicants. This is not first-come, first-serve. A summer trip application will be distributed by February 10th and will be posted to our website, emailed to our mailing list, and shared at Life Nights.

Blessings mission:

This mission trip is organized by the incomparable Fr. Michael Alello in his parish of St. Thomas More. This is a four-day mission trip, beginning Wednesday evening and ending Sunday evening. The 2019 dates are June 18 - 23. Click here for the Blessings website.

In 2019 we are focusing on our new mission in Greenwood, Mississippi. Therefore we are not participating in Blessings.

Vacherie mission:

Along with Our Lady of Peace, St. Georgre, and St. Isidore, St. Aloysius lead the Vacherie Mission (aka "mission of mercy") for ten years, from 2008 to 2017. We count ourselves very blessed to have lived and worked in that community each summer. Unfortunately the mission was not renewed in 2018, and in 2019 it was replaced by the Greenwood mission.
